Chenade Gill

Chenade is our resident pocket-rocket. She started riding when she was nine years old. She actually won the horse at the last Port Augusta Rodeo! Chenade was a professional jockey for many years on the east coast and used to ride for Peter Moody. A very experienced horsewoman, Chenade has spent many years living in rural areas and outback stations and has bred and broken in ponies for her kids.

Not surprisingly, Thoroughbreds are Chenade’s favourite breed of horses, but her favourite animals are actually dogs. She owns five horses (Starlight, Butter Rum, TJ, Stormy and Cocco), three dogs, one cat, fish and birds. Chenade did a couple of weeks at Ranges for work experience as part of an employment course, and we decided she was a keeper. There is never a boring day with Chenade around. She’s the life of the party and we love her hilarious stories. She keeps everyone on their toes and is always running around non-stop.

Now retired from trackwork, Chenade has two sons and one daughter – all are experienced motorbike riders and Skyanne is Chenade’s #1. With Chenade’s expert guidance and support, Skyanne competes in many events, but has a particular interest in showjumping and barrel racing. One item Chenade says she can’t live without in the tack shed/stables is a hoof pick and she thinks the best feed for horses sold at Ranges is Hygain Tru Gain. She’s also a big fan of the Thomas Cook clothing in store at Ranges Country.
