Wilmington Agricultural Show
Amelia GreenfieldThe Wilmington Ag Show was a much anticipated event this year, as it was the first time Letisha, Debbie and young Lyzy attended an ag show as competitors, rather than as my helpers at the Quorn Ag Show. It was also Toastie's first time competing at an ag show, and the only time the poor girl had been ridden since the Wilmington ODE a month earlier was at the Pichi Richi Train Trail Ride!
Due to previous wet weather, the horse events were held in the warmup and float park area rather than the oval of the show, this did make it a quieter atmosphere for the horses without crowd or bouncy castles. Thank goodness because the wind did pick up terribly, so we were all very pleased with our well our horses behaved considering how wild the weather got.
Sadly there were not many big horses competiting, mostly ponies and galloways. Toastie won the Off The Track Thoroughbred class and was also awarded Champion Hack, and I took out Senior Rider of the Day.

Debbie McKenzie and Redwing had an excellent start to their day, winning their first class. Certainly a different change of pace from their usual gymkhanas! Luckily I had extra riding clothes to spare to deck her out in english attire for the first time. They really looked the part and did a great job at their first english show, including looking out for Debbie's younger sister out in the ring.

Lyzy was attending her first ever outing with her new horse Buzz (Moonwalk), who was an absoloute champion with his young rider. After entering all the led classes, on the day Lyzy decided to ride solo and did so well, pushing through some moments of upset and be recognised by the judges of both rings and receiving the Encouragement Award.

So very grateful to the organisers, judges and sponsors without whom events like these will be lost!
