Mount Remarkable Agricultural Show

Mount Remarkable Agricultural Show

Amelia Greenfield

Melrose Ag Show is always a picturesque event at the foot Mount Remarkable, and at least this year we were not inundated with flies as in 2025!

I was the only staff member attending this ag show, which was a much bigger, businer and noiser event for Toastie than the preceeding Wilmington Show.

We started off with the led classes which Toastie was very well behaved for, especially as we had not done any practice leading.  Then we saddled up for the ridden events - unfortunately the sparkier atmosphere did get to Toastie a little, and she was very hot and unsettled. She is such a good girl that she was still safe and ridable, but we didn't achieve the nice moments of work that we had at Wilmington. We did win Champion Hack by default as we were sadly the only show hack entered - but at least someone was there to win the lovely sash and prize sponsored by KG & DA Walter and LD Fuller. Thank you to Sophie Haigh for coming up to judge.

While the ridden work may not have been what I hoped, Toastie was so easy to prep, and was a perfect girl tied to the float while Mum and I went to get lunch before heading home.

Massive thank you to Dianne Leahy for not only organising the HIA for Melrose Show, but also taking some beautiful photos on the day!
